This project is about walls, and the inspiration comes from the precedent artist, Andrea Zittel’s artwork. In the masterplan design, it represents three different color carpets with flowers and plants. The landscape-scale carpet is going to define the space of the artist community and also keep open to the local town community. In the architecture design, there are two layers of folding walls. The exterior layer is the glass folding wall giving freedom to artists to decide how much openness they want to other artists. The interior layer of the folding wall is a thick and solid folding wall. It gives flexible connection between artists’ studio space and housing space. It also creates furniture for use on both sides.
