Takashi Murakami has moved motionlessly among his multiple roles as artist, curator, theorist, product designer, businessman, and celebrity. The themes for this project reflect the workshop culture followed in his studios. The ideas of immersion and collective workings spaces that act as both workshops and galleries have been taken forward within the designs to create an art community cum workshop space for his team in Coxsackie.Using a relatively simple idea of superimposing the infamous Murakami flower on the stripes and layers that were created on the site, that were regrouped fragments with categorically divided the spaces. The ground floor is open to the public and is a gallery space while the second floor is the workshop and the shared living quarters of the artists. The openness of the plan in the workshop space is reminiscent of how his team works as they have a general work and sleep where you work cycle.
