Deterioration of Earth in 2050 gives rise to a new form of insulating architecture that is placeless. The Plant is a hybrid institution: on one hand acting as a machine for purifying air, on the other acting as an Ark for nature. A vehicle for salvation and restoration. For now, nature is under the complete subjection of humanity. The insulated and placeless architecture is not contextualized by how it responds to its direct setting, but rather its inclusion and exhibition of ‘natural’ ecosystems within itself. The exhibited biomes are admittedly compromised, utilizing iconography to represent these environments rather than literal replication. As the plant actively purifies the toxic atmosphere, species’ genes are preserved underground until the ‘flood’ of climate change subsides.
