With the need to increase density and add more quality, affordable housing stock to our growing urban areas, cities like New York are now facing the issues that aging and overburdened infrastructure systems are challenged with when meeting the demands of a growing population. This project takes a deep dive into looking at the water system in the Mott Haven–Melrose, Bronx area and proposes housing that treats all of its own wastewater and subsequently reuses it in its buildings. In order to educate residents and local community members, amenities are re-imagined through a wetland park that occupies that ground floor with public viewing spaces into the membrane bioreactor, and wellness pools at various levels in each complex.
