Just like the George Washington Bridge Bus terminal is an agglomeration of the automobile, the intervention seeks to bring together street vendors scattered in between the periphery of sidewalks and streets, to create both a market place for street vendors at Washington Heights and a symbolic ceremonial space showcasing and uplifting the dark/precarious economy. Serving both as a critique and adaptation of the modernist structure at the bus terminal, the intervention aims to adapt irreducible forms such as crates and umbrellas from these fruit stands which come from a vernacular, folk background into an architectural module that could give vendors agency to create their own stalls and space.
