The Morphon

The Morphon is a symbiotic inhabitable typology that dwells on the scaffoldings that are used as means of protection and grounds for façade restoration and connects the street level to the formerly privatized rooftops. Introducing a new type of program for the ephemeral and ubiquitous scaffoldings of New York City, the Morphon breaks the hierarchy among the people by allowing the pedestrians to reclaim the verticality of the city. Formerly experiencing the city only on the ground level, the passers-by are now given the opportunity to be elevated to interact with the built environment through a different perspective, through the distortion of the glass cones that create the walls of the structure. The repurposed glass units allow for a collective experience in all of the phases of the Morphon. Scaffolding becomes the spectacle.
