Design Against Heat

Heat, compared to other health risks exacerbated by climate change, is the most fatal hidden threat disproportionately affecting people of color and those of lower-income in New York. The project focuses along the Sherman Creek Waterfront in Inwood, Manhattan as fertile ground to be transformed into a cooling region for the neighborhood. The design revolves around a system of cooling nodes, corridors, and massing to offer a holistic approach against extreme heat for the Inwood community.
