This project aims to provide a network of support to the existing informal systems of care in Flushing, Queens. Through a lens of care, respect, and acknowledgment for what is existing on the site, some buildings on the site are preserved and repurposed into housing. A new topography is introduced to allow for the informalities to be housed and for the community to activate as their own. The movements of land create spaces as a landscape and it forms the childcare center as it enters the indoors or carves out space. This allows for informal play to happen at the scale of the site and the scale of a building.
