To think of clinics as a city’s social infrastructure, we must consider it a medical space for COVID testing. But simultaneously, on the psychological side, how do we architects provide testers, patients, and medical staffs who work for long hours the best experience during the pandemic? Empathy and Competence in architecture would tell the story. If we think of competence as the professionalism of all PPE, social distance, and disinfection, empathy in this realm is articulated through the wood material; the warmth is conveyed through its natural and organic qualities. We should not design medical spaces only through cold concrete and gypsum board. Empathy is achieved at best when we are currently under this pandemic. Hence, this project aims to provide quick circulation for massive people during COVID testing and brings empathy in healthcare facilities to the forefront.
