NGO Rikolto is an international NGO that focuses on agriculture and family farms. The proposed NGO headquarters is located in an agricultural area of the red river delta in Hanoi, Vietnam. This proposal replaces a local cement mill, which pollutes the irrigation water of the neighboring farmland, with the new Rikolto headquarters. The project will go through two phases. The first phase requires a phytoremediation process to clean up the site in preparation for agricultural use. The second phase includes a bamboo farm and experimental farmland, the latter of which supports the NGO’s research activities. The bamboo farm generates revenue that covers not only the NGO’s operation costs but also supports local family-operated farms.
