McKenna Square Park, located in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, is a narrow triangular park designed during the 1980s. Inspired by the Native American Three Sisters Planting method, which involves planting three plants together to create mutual support, our intervention focuses on building upon existing infrastructure to create a more usable park for the neighborhood. We utilized the park’s assets to re-imagine an existing sculptural pavilion as a greenhouse nursery, reuse current seating to create new flexible seats, and add additional landscaping to the park.
