Tree Trace is an office and exhibition space that creates a meandering experience harmonious with the ruggedness and sublimity of the treescape. The building’s footprint is an offset of the line where the forest meets the existing courtyard. The forest-facing façade is transparent, with floor-to-ceiling office windows, while the courtyard-facing façade remains opaque, a concrete wall embedded with recycled glass. The gallery space is defined by a cracked glass façade system, with a structure inspired by the branches of the forest. Starting at the office wing to the south, the roof climbs gradually from a height of 12 to 32 feet in the gallery to the north. Sustainable building strategies have been integrated to make this project a carbon-neutral building.
