My design is inspired by the term “plastic art”; it explores spatial plasticity and the shape of specific spaces, their organizations, and internal spatial relationships. This project focuses on how spaces overlap, transform, and interact. Gas pumps, for example, don’t need to be isolated, they could connect to vending machines. The autonomous space of the truck stop can run by itself but also connect to other architectures. I hope that the truck stop of the future resembles a factory model in which goods can be easily loaded and unloaded, and drivers aren’t required to stay with their truck at the stop—they can eat, sleep, or watch a film. This design includes a telescopic aerodynamic vacuum device that unloads goods onto a conveyor belt. On the other side of the truck stop, people transfer goods from the belt to their next destination.
