File Standards (online)

  • Still images submitted for EOYS must be exported in a web-ready format: JPG (raster images), PNG (vector images), or GIF files are accepted.
  • JPEG and PNG files must not exceed a maximum edge of 2000 pixels and a file size of 3MB.
  • GIF files must not exceed a maximum file size of 3MB and frame count of 50.
  • Videos can be submitted in .mp4 or .mov format with a maximum file size of 10GB. Video files will be uploaded to the GSAPP YouTube Channel and embedded into the EOYS site.
  • PDF files must be downsized to a maximum of 25MB.

Abstract File Standards (print)

  • Do not submit wall-sized boards, multi-page PDFs, or multiple drawings or images in a single image file
  • Raster images (images, such as renderings, photographs, or collages) should be saved with the following specs: 8-bit TIFF files, CMYK colorspace (not RGB), and approximately 8x10” at 300 dpi, but no larger than 11x17” at 300dpi. Files should not be compressed or contain layers or alpha channels.
  • Vector images (line work, such as AutoCAD or Illustrator drawings) should be saved as .AI (Adobe Illustrator) files, in CMYK color space (not RGB).
  • Physical models should be photographed, color corrected in Photoshop, converted to CMYK, and saved in an 8-bit TIFF format (300 DPI and approximately 8"x10"). The files should be flattened and not contain layers or alpha channels.
  • Make sure that all solid “black” areas are true black (C=0%, Y=0%, M=0%, K=100%), not “rich black” (C=100%, Y=100%, M=100%, K=100%)
  • For vector files, Make sure that ALL lines are at the very least 60% black, optimally 100% black. If you want to have line hierarchy, achieve that through lineweights, not through making lines gray
  • Please do not include any text embedded in your images

Please refer to the Abstract page for further details.
