Blockchain Urbanism: Exploring The Future of Decentralized Design Practice

Kirk Finkel is the co-founder of the Sndbox incubator and The Creative Crypto Magazine. The incubator is a global network of artists, architects, non-profits, software developers, musicians and neighborhood leaders. Sndbox helps these individuals and collectives earn cryptocurrency to fundraise for projects and empower new ideas. Kirk is a designer who believes in collaboration through new technology and across all disciplines. He holds a BArch from Cornell University and graduated from Columbia University’s MSAUD program in 2014.

UD Sessions: The Expanded Field of Urban Design is a series of conversations with urban designers, who graduated from or taught at GSAPP’s Urban Design program. By discussing their current work and reflecting on how their experience at GSAPP shaped their thinking about design, cities, and politics, the series explores the ways in which the field of urban design expanded since its emergence. UD Sessions 2018 are part of an ongoing inquiry into the work of urban designers. Listen to the related podcast series here.
