Safe Space

Thu, May 23, 2019    6pm

Join us for the launch of the pamphlet Safe Space: Housing Queer Youth Experiencing Homelessness in New York City at the Leslie-Lohman Museum.

The publication is composed of student research on the problem of homelessness in the LGBTQ youth population in New York City and its intersection with design. In particular, it examines the specific housing needs for LGBTQ youth, how existing spaces are used and funded, and suggestions of best practices for potential new spaces for this population. The document is meant to raise awareness of the situation and highlight ways in which the architecture, planning, real estate, and broader design communities can engage with these issues.

Organized by QSAPP (Queer Students of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation), part of the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation at Columbia University with support from the Leslie-Lohman Museum.

Free and open to the public, advanced registration is recommended. RSVP
