Stéphanie Bru & Alexandre Theriot of the architecture office, BRUTHER, will deliver the concluding lecture, “(Hyper)comfort”, in the 2024 AAD Arguments lecture series.
Benjamin Weisgall will give an introduction and will be joined by Sebastián Adamo to provide a response following the presentation and host a Q&A session.
Stéphanie Bru and Alexandre Theriot founded the office BRUTHER in 2007 in Paris. BRUTHER’s projects take the design back to its essentials, exploring the fields of architecture, urbanism, landscape, research, and teaching. They apply a design of resistance, free from any mark of mannerism, style, fashion, or excess.
Their projects suggest a delicate balance between strategy and form, rigour, and freedom, particular and generic, immediacy and evolutivity. Combining program and future, their projects stand for open infrastructures, able to answer to a multitude of future potentialities and to a vast malleability of uses.
BRUTHER takes part of a « nouvelle vague » of practices, which contribute to a radical renewal of the French architectural culture. Winner of many awards and contests, BRUTHER was the object of a monograph entitled « Introduction » in 2014, and of many other international publications (2G, released in June 2017, El Croquis, released in May 2019 and A+U, released in April 2022) and numerous international conferences.
Stéphanie Bru and Alexandre Theriot are regularly invited to contribute in numerous international schools (EPF in Lausanne, UQAM in Montréal, Stuttgart, HSD in Düsseldorf, ENSAV in Paris, GSD Harvard in Boston, amongst others.). In 2019 Alexandre was appointed Full Professor of Architecture and Construction at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. Since 2021 Stéphanie is Full Professor of Architecture at the Universität der Künste in Berlin
Organized by the MS in Advanced Architectural Design program as part of the AAD Arguments Lecture Series.
