Tue, Jun 13, 2017    6pm

Lecture by Amanda Reeser Lawrence (M.Arch ‘98), Associate Professor, Northeastern University School of Architecture.

Amanda Reeser Lawrence is a tenured associate professor of architecture at the School of Architecture at Northeastern University. She holds a Ph.D. from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, a Master of Architecture from Columbia University, and a BA Summa Cum Laude from Princeton University. A licensed architect, Lawrence is founding co-editor of the award-winning journal, Praxis. Lawrence’s research focuses on a close reading of architectural form—contemporary and historical—with a particular interest in theorizing the role of influence. Her book James Stirling: Revisionary Modernist (Yale University Press, 2013) was funded by the Graham Foundation and the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art. Her work has also been funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Endowment for the Arts, the J.M. Kaplan Fund, and the American Institute of Architects. Her essays have appeared in Log, Architectural Theory Review, OASE, Journal of Architectural Education, Perspecta, and Future Anterior. She is currently completing a book manuscript on modern architecture and influence, to be published by Princeton University Press.

Part of the Arguments Lecture Series organized by the M.S. Advanced Architectural Design program.
