Housing is a Verb: Why Communities Need Housing Systems, Not Just Housing

Rosanne Haggerty (MSRED ‘89) is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Community Solutions. She is an internationally recognized leader in developing innovative strategies to end homelessness and strengthen communities. Community Solutions builds effective local housing systems through initiatives such as the 100,000 Homes and Built for Zero Campaigns to end chronic and veteran homelessness in the US and creates new models of housing and community development to prevent homelessness. They have assisted more than 200 communities in housing more than 175,000 individuals since 2010, including the first communities to sustainably end chronic and veteran homelessness. Their work has been recognized with the World Habitat Award, the National Design Award, the Jane Jacobs Medal and featured in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, Stanford Social Innovation Review and on 60 Minutes. Rosanne is a MacArthur Fellow, Ashoka Senior Fellow and Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur.
