Jared Friedman

Jared is a licensed architect and design technologist based in New York whose work explores how data and computational processes can be applied towards topics such as automation, industrialized construction, and thermodynamics. At Columbia GSAPP, Jared is an Adjunct Assistant Professor, where his courses have focused on emerging data-driven design methodologies used within the AEC industry. Having had experience working across a variety of architecture, engineering, and construction practices throughout his career, Jared enjoys bringing a variety of perspectives to the classroom.

Currently as a Senior Technical Designer in the Structures group at Walter P Moore, Jared’s work focuses on the development of digital workflows and embodied carbon tracking for large and complex projects across the globe. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master in Design Studies from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. His past research has been published in a variety of platforms such as ACADIA, Rob|Arch, and Wired.
