Stuart Brodsky

Adjunct Assistant Professor

Stuart Brodsky is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Real Estate Development at Columbia GSAPP. Also, Stuart is the Director of the Center for the Sustainable Built Environment at the Schack Institute of the NYU School of Professional Studies. Previously, Stuart was a senior member of the sustainability team at GE Capital Real Estate, where his team led the charge of integrating environmental sustainability into the debt and equity practices of GE’s $65 billion investment portfolio. At GE, Stuart’s focus was on strategies to enhance asset value through energy efficiency. Prior to GE, Stuart was a senior program manager at the US Environmental Protection Agency where he launched and led the ENERGY STAR program’s outreach, leading to partnership with over 7 billion square feet of US commercial property stakeholders. Under his leadership, Stuart forged strategic alliances with industry associations such as BOMA, AH&LA, NAREIT, and RER, resulting in industry adoption of the use of ENERGY STAR tools and resources to benchmark and pursue energy efficiency in buildings, and thereby augment asset value.
