Candelaria Mas Pohmajevic

Candelaria is a New York City-based architect and urban designer who partners with cities, communities, non-profits, and developers to design and build more resilient and equitable futures. She holds a professional degree in Architecture from Mendoza University, Argentina, and a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University, where she received the Prize for Excellence in Urban Design. She is an Associate Director at Resilient Cities Catalyst, where she collaboratively leads urban resilience initiatives infused by a people-first approach honed from her experience at Gehl.

Her portfolio spans urban strategy, streetscape design, and master plans across scales and geographies. Beyond designing places, she specializes in creating the collaborative processes that move resilience projects from vision to implementation. She excels at bringing diverse stakeholders together to build consensus and translating that shared vision into a practical roadmap with clear, actionable milestones, turning great ideas into tangible opportunities that attract the investment needed to make them a reality.

Central to this process is the belief that design must position residents and city officials as co-creators to foster a lasting sense of ownership. Her projects fundamentally seek to strengthen the connection between people and nature. By weaving landscapes, ecology, and climate-sensitive infrastructure into every project, she aims to create vibrant, healthy environments where communities and ecosystems can thrive together.
