Adjunct Assistant Professor

Farah Alkhoury is an Iraqi architect and researcher based in New York. Her work deals with environmental, state, military, and corporate violence as a consequential form of architecture and spatial thinking. She examines modes of extraction and exploitation in architecture and design to understand how design participates in the process of environmental transformation. Currently, she is a lecturer at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia GSAPP.

Her work has been exhibited at the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale. Between 2018 and 2020, she played an integral role in the inaugural edition of the Sharjah Architecture Triennale (SAT'19) through her contribution to research, coordination, and design. She also practiced as an exhibition designer at Studio Joseph in New York. In 2017, she co-founded “Bites of Architecture,” hosting events advocating for collective action for political, social, and environmental accountability in the SWANA region.

Alkhoury received a Bachelor of Architecture from the American University of Sharjah and a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia GSAPP.
