Michael Kimmelman

Michael Kimmelman is the architecture critic for The New York Times, and the author, most recently, of “The Intimate City.” He is founder and editor at large of Headway, a new philanthropically supported initiative at The Times addressing global challenges and paths toward progress. He has reported from more than 40 countries, writing broadly on design and the built world, politics and culture, climate change, social and environmental justice, urban planning, and community development. Born and raised in New York City, educated at Yale and Harvard, he has taught at Harvard, lectured widely around the world, received numerous awards and various honorary degrees, and been the Franke Visiting Fellow at The Whitney Humanities Center at Yale. He is a longtime contributor to The New York Review of Books.
