Foteini Kallikouni

Foteini Kallikouni is an architect and educator whose work explores materiality across scales through a critical and interdisciplinary lens. Her research focuses on the cultural and political dimensions of material production and use, their ties to memory, and their tactile, embodied, and structural potential within broader building ecologies. She holds a Diploma in Architectural Engineering and a Master’s in Architecture and Urban Design from Patras School of Architecture in Greece, and a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia GSAPP, where she received the Honor Award for Excellence and the William Kinne Fellows Traveling Prize.

Her work has been recognized with the Best Project Award and the Peers Award at the Greek Architecture Awards (2022) for the design of a summer retreat in the Peloponnese, as well as the Europe 40 Under 40 Architecture and Design Award (2022–2023), by the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. Her projects have been exhibited at the Milan Triennale (2025), the 11th Biennale of Greek Architects (2023), organized by the Hellenic Institute of Architecture, and the Greek Pavilion of the Venice Architecture Biennale (2021).

Her practice spans private residential projects, material research, and the production of installations and artifacts at the intersection of architecture and art. Since 2025, she has been developing Wearable Spaces, an ongoing series of architecture workshops in public schools in Greece that introduces students to spatial thinking through participatory design processes. Centered on students’ lived experiences and spatial needs, the workshops culminate in permanent or temporary installations realized within and around the school environment.
