Elliot Glassman

Adjunct Assistant Professor

Elliot Glassman, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C, CPHD is the firm-wide Building Performance Group Lead of CannonDesign. There his role is to partner with the Cannon’s design and technical leadership to promote high-performance strategies aimed at building decarbonization and meeting the firm’s bold Planet 2100 ambitions.

Elliot obtained his Bachelors of Architecture from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and earned a Masters of Design Studies degree with a concentration in sustainability from the Harvard GSD.

In 16 years of combined professional practice as an architect and sustainability consultant, Elliot has worked on various projects around the world, each requiring a unique response to a diverse set of climatic, site, and programmatic conditions. His main area of expertise is passive building design for energy, daylight, and comfort. Other areas of expertise include water efficiency, renewable energy, and building electrification.

Elliot’s approach involves combining computational design techniques with performance simulation to support and inform the architectural design process in a data driven way. These computational techniques help identify integrated design solutions that improve the performance of the built environment and provide deep insights to achieve a wide range of intended project outcomes.

Elliot is a board member of the Connecticut Green Building Council and serves on the Mayor’s Climate Council in Stamford, CT, helping promote policy that furthers the decarbonization of the built environment. He has presented at conferences such as Greenbuild, the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA), Façade Tectonics World Congress, and Advancing Computational Building Design (ACBD).

Elliot also has taught courses at City Tech and Pratt Institute, in addition to numerous guest lectures at Carnegie Mellon University, Cooper Union, Syracuse University, NYIT, and NJIT.
