Chloe Munkenbeck

Chloe is an architect and artist, originally from London. She received her MA in Architecture from the University of Edinburgh and her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Chloe has exhibited nationally across the US, with solo shows at Roman Susan Gallery (Chicago), SPACES Gallery (Cleveland), and an upcoming solo at Council_St Gallery (Los Angeles). Her sculpture and installation practice uses architectural structures as both metaphor and medium to unpack the social codes of conduct the built environment prescribes. Her work examines and undermines the perfectionist and universality narratives of architecture, by exposing the flawed, leaking, and often obscured infrastructures of architectural production and maintenance. Chloe’s first solo show “Interior Motives” was featured in Art Forum’s Must See List.

In 2023, she was selected as the Exhibition Designer for the US Pavilion’s “Everlasting Plastics” at the Venice Architecture Biennale.

In addition to her own practice, Chloe has worked with leading design practices across the US and Europe. She began her career developing the spatial and display concepts for Christian Dior’s global stores. At Future Firm in Chicago, Chloe was the lead designer for “Static Range” by Himali Singh Soin, curated by Irene Sunwoo at the Art Institute of Chicago, in addition to Bronzeville Winery, Nikelab, and Kimball Arts Center. In 2024, she was a Senior Designer at Leong Leong and led the design for “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” The Met’s Costume Institute exhibition showcase for the Met Gala. Currently, she is working with Jayden Ali as Lead Designer for JA_Projects in North America.
