Plug-In House is a multi-generational housing complex that responds to the neighborhood of Melrose’s need for sustainable, affordable, and adaptable housing. Considerations of multi-generational housing guided the motivations of Plug-In House. Implicit in the concept of multi-generational housing is change—the expectation that tenants, families, couples, students, and seniors will have changing needs, lifestyles, capacities, and accordances. Therefore, it became a priority that Plug-In House provides affordable, flexible, and adaptable housing for a variety of needs.
