The Thermal Comfort Annex at Middle Church redefines the building envelope, creating a liminal space between East Village’s interior enclosure and exterior exposure. In 2020, Middle Church endured a fire, leaving the corner site with only the 1892 façade. This annex facilitates the congregation’s worship and their critical engagement with the surrounding community.
