Punta Cana: Bridging the Blues

Our project balances the complexities of Punta Cana’s profound environmental treasure with respect to the rapidly growing economy. Bridging the Blues is a response to reinstate the devalued lagoon wetland system of Punta Cana and the threatened ecology due to the growing, invasive tourism industry. We emphasize the importance of Laguna Bavaro, central to our area of consideration, and promote its conservancy by promoting mandatory ecological stewardship by the private developers. We strategize integration of the vast, vulnerable greenscapes and waterscapes through activation of the shoreline, conscious urban densification and hydrological connection.

By instigating a larger environmental responsibility within the stakeholders, we envision a resilient Punta Cana, ready to adapt to the climatic inevitability of the Sea Level Rise by 2100.
