Punta Cana: Veron Verde

The proposal seeks to generate a socio-ecological capital for Verón-Punta Cana based on the preservation of its ecological resources, the implementation of social infrastructure and the improvement of its urban conditions and connectivity. Understanding Verón as a dormitory town, the hidden backbone of the tourism economy, we aim to transform it into an attractive and lively Caribbean city, full of energy, activity and life. This change will be driven by three main urban strategies: The creation of ecological corridors that include social equipment and preserve habitats, the consolidation of an effective and lively mobility network that prioritizes the pedestrian experience, and the diversification of its uses, as well as locating potential areas for urban expansion in a sustainable and organized manner. To lead the transformation, we propose “Verón Verde”, an alliance that protects, enhances and promotes green and social infrastructure; uniting public and private actors under a single banner and one common interest.

With this, we envision the future of Verón as a resilient, vibrant and connected city, an ecological asset for the region and a living legacy for future generations.
