Living in Bloom is a housing concept designed to support aging residents, their families, and caregivers by fostering independence, community, and shared purpose. Inspired by Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities (NORCs), the project addresses affordability challenges and caregiving demands while prioritizing wellness and connection.
The building’s stepped form, inspired by rice terraces, integrates sunlight, cascading gardens, and shared spaces. Seniors and their families occupy bright, south-facing units, while caregivers reside in the north bar, with community spaces like kitchens, dining areas, and libraries bridging the two zones.
Sustainable features include sunspaces with Trombe walls for temperature regulation and a central atrium with hanging gardens that provide ventilation and opportunities for interaction. Shared gardening and communal spaces create a vibrant environment where service, care, nature, and socialization thrive.
Living in Bloom reimagines senior living, creating a supportive, connected community for all.
