Forest City Tower

Engaging the widespread issue of overbuilt, under-inhabited development, this project addresses Forest City in Johor, Malaysia which remains largely abandoned due to corrupt business practices and environmental devastation. Reimagining the skeletal concrete frame of one of these empty towers as a site of architectural ‘rewilding’, the project also accommodates the local fishing communities whose livelihood was disrupted by the landfilling of the site and destruction of the coastal ecosystem of seagrass meadows.
