This project is conceived as an artist residency structured as a dry dock around a stranded barge. The vessel, beached near the sea, functions as an art center for painters and teachers, yet lacks spaces for inhabitation.
The proposal operates in two registers. Above, a temporary timber system forms a modular and demountable framework, able to expand, adapt, or recede over time. Like a working dock, it remains provisiona, open and porous in summer, enclosed and protective in winter. Below, a field of concrete pillars establishes a permanent datum, persisting beyond the timber’s lifespan and marking the site as a residual trace of occupation.
The plan adopts a U-shaped configuration, framing the barge on three sides. Dormitory-studios occupy the longitudinal wings, communal programs anchor the short side, and an open deck extends toward the sea, maintaining a direct relationship with the horizon.
