My project proposes to reintroduce play into the space of the city by inviting the city into the space of the school, closing Ninth Street to vehicular traffic and pushing the street through the central bar of the old P.S. 64’s existing H plan. Meanwhile, a new play structure-cum-circulation system grafted onto the now public inner street wall transforms the heritage façade and extends the public realm vertically, tying the several elements together in one, unified, “ground for play.”
