In response to the potential flood hazard, the design for the School proposes a giant green ecological infrastructure. The first-level wetland, together with a green roof located above, absorbs and collects rainwater runoff and floodwater. The building then transforms harvested water into water-based features that are embedded in the School’s infrastructure. The continuous waterfall externalizes the concept of integrated water features on the building facade and serves as a teaching medium to educate and create awareness for the students as well as the public. Moreover, the building itself also functions as a large science-focused field for experimentation. The science lab located in the basement creates possibilities for scientists to study the local soil, water, and agriculture conditions.
