Common Ground

Common Ground is a network of spaces that serve the increasing migrant women community of Sunset Park, where they experience a lack of domestic space, job opportunities, and public infrastructure to support them. The project works together with organizations like Mixteca that aims to enrich and empower the Latinx community in Brooklyn. Overall the intent is to promote alternative activities to achieve economic independence and free hours by managing the lack of child care. We propose these spaces as a result of restructuring the residential street typology as an urban fraction that can be replicated. Therefore, allowing an upgrade within the community in terms of opportunities to achieve education, resources, and overall improvement of quality life.
