Constructed by Spanish colonizers in the 18th century, Canal Del Dique connects Cartagena Bay and the Magdalena River, vital for European trade. Traversing cienegas, essential wetlands for freshwater and Afro-Colombian heritage, it faces threats of sedimentation, pollution, and flooding. We advocate enhancing its cienegas at multiple scales, exemplified through collaboration with Passacaballos community.
