The project deals with the issues of overpopulation and density. It develops a possibility that challenges luxury standards and explores a possible future in which super tall skyscrapers are no longer a luxury. Rather, they become part of the common housing solution in a speculative, not-so-distant future in which density and over-population pose major social challenges for the city. Unlike today’s luxury skyscrapers, outside views are not the most important aspect of the project; these views will soon be blocked. Instead, inner voids create dynamic public, collective spaces that create a sense of community among neighbors. An inner circulation system functions as the main public space throughout the project, connecting different communal spaces such as public parks, playgrounds, health facilities, and co-op spaces. Dense City is a skyscraper designed to create a healthy vertical community through a diverse collection of public spaces.
