To rebrand a high-tech campus, which is typically exclusive, energy-consuming, and labor-intensive, Ark features an infrastructural loop that facilitates on-site energy production, encourages connectivity, and promotes walkability. More than an elevated public promenade, the fluctuating loop combines different high-tech strategies of energy production with interactive public spaces to deliver frontier knowledge of sustainable technologies and educate the public about renewable energy. An urban algae farm is situated in the center of the loop as a piece of urban spectacle. Through the exposure of infrastructures that are usually hidden and invisible to the public, the “Ark” intends to create a net-zero campus that is less dependent on the city. grid and helps rebrand the conventional perception of high-tech campuses.
