Kyle Hovenkotter

Kyle Hovenkotter is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Architecture in Columbia GSAPP’s Urban Design Program. He is a founding partner of the design practice JuneJuly, and is also a faculty member at the Pratt Institute, Barnard College, and the Cooper Union.

He produces spaces, objects, and ideas that explore the impact of globalization, climate change and digital technology on the human experience. His work has been supported by MONU, the ARPA Journal, The New Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Rauch Foundation.

His current design research is concerned with the architecture of borders, and communication through haptic media. Previously, he has worked with global brands and institutions as a designer, strategist and futurist. He has envisioned new workspaces for Google, explored how new forms of patient care will change the Massachusetts General Hospital campus, and designed spaces for active education for the Wexner Center for the Arts and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
