Green resources and open spaces have been an important part of Harlem, throughout history leading to the present day. With this idea, we have created an illustration implementing our understandings brought forth from the Studio’s research. Through a collage, we put together different types of green resources from different periods of time – the dense greenery of pre-settler colonialism Mannahatta, parks and open spaces, trees at public housing, community gardens – creating a visionary landscape of Harlem. We propose to exhibit the artwork, putting forward the Green History of Harlem in public view.
