Architecture Studio VI

Studio members in the Real Estate Development program will do a deep-dive into the architectural studio process, from site analysis to design development. In connecting pro forma to architectural form, RED studio members will be tasked with questioning the role of buildings on the development of the human and urban bodies, inclusive of community and user needs. Additionally, the studio process will challenge them to work on rapid iterations that must be clearly narrativized and articulated in reviews. Additionally, RED studio members will coordinate Capstone-specific deliverables with Professor Derrington.

Dual-degree MARCH-MSRED and/or MSAAD-MSRED studio members will learn to balance the requirements of both fields in order to arrive at a solution that is sensitive to both stakeholders and investors. The Bridge Studio will serve as a laboratory through which the budding developer-architect (or “developer ߎ architect”) may begin to lay the bases for their own professional practice. While guidance will be provided by studio critics, mentors, teaching assistants and visiting speakers, studio members are expected to go above and beyond in grounding their projects on disciplinary know-how. To challenge the rules of any one field, we must first understand them.
